Automatic zoom, step by step

It knows where you were working
The cursor is recorded as data, not as pixels. SmoothCut reads where you clicked and lingered and moves in on those places, so the viewer is looking at what you were looking at.

Each zoom is an ordinary edit
Every automatic zoom is a block on the timeline. Drag it, stretch it, change how deep it goes and how it eases in and out, or delete it. Nothing is baked into the recording.

It survives a change of shape
Lay the same edit out as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 and the zooms come with it, so a vertical cut for Shorts is not a second edit.

Can I turn automatic zoom off?
Yes. The zooms are ordinary edits on the timeline: remove the ones you do not want, or all of them, and add your own with ⌥Z.
Does zooming reduce the quality?
The zoom is drawn from your original recording at export rather than by enlarging an already-exported video, so text stays as sharp as the recording allows. Record at your screen's full resolution for the deepest clean zooms.
Does it work on Windows?
Yes. Automatic zoom works the same on macOS and Windows.
