Camera layouts
Camera layouts that switch mid-clip.
Picture-in-picture while you show the product, fullscreen when you talk to camera. The screen and the camera are recorded separately, so where each one sits is an editing decision, not a recording one.
- Picture-in-picture, side by side, stacked, camera fullscreen
- Switch layout part-way through a clip
- Save an arrangement as a preset
- The camera sits in a rounded card with a natural shadow
How it works
Camera layouts, step by step
- 01
Recorded separately, arranged later
Your screen and your camera are two recordings. Decide afterwards how big the camera is, which corner it sits in, or whether it is there at all.
- 02
A layout region makes the switch
Drop a layout region on the timeline and the arrangement changes for exactly that stretch: fullscreen camera for the introduction, picture-in-picture for the walkthrough.
- 03
Every shape, one edit
The same edit lays out as 16:9, as 9:16 with the camera stacked over the screen, or as 1:1. Presets save an arrangement so every new project opens in it.
Camera layouts: questions
Can I record without a camera?
Yes. The camera is optional, and a recording made with one can still be laid out without it.
Can I move the camera after recording?
Yes. Position, size and layout are all chosen in the editor, and can change during the video.
Does it work for vertical video?
Yes. In 9:16 the camera can be stacked above the screen, which is the usual shape for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.
