Privacy Policy

This policy explains what SS Enterprises collects when you use smoothcut.studio and the SmoothCut app, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. The short version: your recordings never reach us, and we keep only what a purchase and a licence need.

1. 1. Your recordings

   Recording, editing, captions and export happen on your computer. We do not receive, store or see your recordings, your microphone audio, your webcam, or the text of your captions.

2. 2. What the app sends us

   Only when you use these features:

   • Licence activation and check-ins: your licence key, a one-way hash of a hardware identifier (never the identifier itself), a device label you can see in your account, and your IP address as received by our server.
   • Update checks: a request to our update feed. It carries no identifier.
   • Speech models and sound library: downloads from our asset server, with no identifier.

   The app does not include analytics or crash reporting that sends data to us.

3. 3. What the site collects

   • Buying: your email, the product, the payment id and amount. Payment card details are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, and never reach us. Their privacy policy applies to the payment.
   • Account: your email, an optional name, sign-in codes (kept for ten minutes), and session cookies.
   • Support: whatever you send us by email.
   • Protection: IP addresses for rate limiting and Cloudflare Turnstile on sign-in and key-resend forms.
   • Logs: activation, check-in and admin actions on a licence, with timestamps, so we can help when something goes wrong.

4. 4. Why we use it

   To deliver and manage your licence, to answer support, to send transactional email (your key, sign-in codes, a receipt), to prevent abuse, and to meet legal and tax obligations. We do not sell personal data, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.

5. 5. Who else sees it

   • Cloudflare hosts the site, the database, and sends our email.
   • Dodo Payments processes payments and sends us purchase and refund events.
   • Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

6. 6. Cookies

   The site sets a session cookie when you sign in and nothing else. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking.

7. 7. How long we keep it

   Licence and purchase records for as long as the licence exists and as long as tax law requires afterwards. Account data until you ask us to delete it. Sign-in codes for ten minutes. Activity logs for two years.

8. 8. Your rights

   You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting a licence record means the licence stops working. Email hello@smoothcut.studio and we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

9. 9. Where data lives

   On Cloudflare's network, which may store it in data centres outside your country, under Cloudflare's data protection terms. We are based in India.

10. 10. Children

    The site and app are not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

    We will update this page when what we collect changes; the date at the top says when.
