Getting started

SmoothCut is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. Download it from the download page; the button picks the right build for your computer.

macOS

1. Open the .dmg and drag SmoothCut into Applications.
2. Launch it. macOS asks for Screen Recording and Accessibility. Allow both under System Settings → Privacy & Security.
3. Upgrading from an older version and recording fails? Remove SmoothCut from both lists, reinstall, and allow them again.

Windows

1. Run the installer. Windows 10 or later.
2. If SmartScreen shows a warning, choose More info → Run anyway. The installer is signed.

Your first recording

Press Record in the bar, pick a window or the whole screen, and go. Press Finish when you are done and the editor opens with your recording already zoomed and smoothed.
