Tutorials and how-tos

Tutorials that are easy to follow the first time.

A tutorial fails when the viewer loses the cursor or cannot read the menu you just opened. SmoothCut zooms to what you click, makes the pointer obvious, and captions what you say.

How to

A tutorial in one sitting

  1. 01

Talk it through as you do it

Record the screen with your microphone on. Say it again if you stumble; abandoned takes are found afterwards and offered as cuts.

  2. 02

    Tighten it

Silences and filler words are cut for you, with every cut on the timeline where you can undo it. Add a text callout or blur anything private.

  3. 03

    Caption and export

Generate captions on your computer, then export at up to 4K, limited only by the size of what you recorded.

Made for being followed along with

Viewers pause, rewind and watch on small screens. A bigger cursor with a ripple on every click, zooms on the control you are using, and word-timed captions make each step unmissable.

Blur and mosaic hide a key, an email address or a name, and stay in place through every zoom.

Questions

Can I fix a mistake without re-recording?

Usually. Say the line again while recording and the first attempt is detected and offered as a cut; you can also cut, speed up or cover parts of the timeline.

Can I record a voice-over afterwards instead?

Yes. Record the screen first and narrate later while the preview plays, then redo any line without touching the recording.

Will captions work in my language?

The speech model detects the spoken language automatically, and captions are generated on your computer.
